Wiley X by Protective Optics was born in 1986 to produce shatterproof eye gear for U.S. Military Special Forces and Law Enforcement agencies nationwide. Shatterproof, selenite, polycarbonate lenses define the ballistic qualities of our many styles. Some models have been tested to withstand a 12 gauge shotgun blast from 10 yards away helping us to gain not only national but international notoriety. Because we’ve produced such a reliable, trustworthy product over the years, we’re currently a standard issue item with the FBI., D.E.A., Army Rangers, Navy Seal Teams and Military Special Forces. In 1990, the President and co-founder of Wiley X by Protective Optics began to take the company in a different direction. He started to focus on the need for good, quality, shatterproof eye gear in various retail markets where “impact resistance” is most important. Wiley X has since taken a vigorous approach to promoting and advertising in these markets and has gained tremendous recognition supplying eyewear accessories to custom motorcycle shops, general sporting goods, sports shooting, golf, sunglass and extreme sports retailers across the country to name a few. The impact made in these industries alone has helped us establish our name as an up and coming force in the retail world at large. TECHNOLOGY Lens Anatomy: Optical protection and perfection are achieved with the new Wiley X Filter 8™ Polarized Lenses. UV400 Lenses provide 100% Ultra Violet Protection and 99.9% Polarization from the sun's harmful rays. Multi-Coat Systems achieve maximum clarity by cutting glare, eliminating reflection, and whisking away moisture. No matter what light condition encountered, our lenses deliver superior quality without optical compromise. Neutral Slate Lenses: Provides maximum glare reduction without distorting colors. Ideal in bright sun where glare is a major factor. Excellent tint for beaches, fishing, general purpose and water sports applications. Bronze Brown Lenses: Offer superior visual definition and increases contrast in most light conditions. Great general purpose lens for daily wear. Overall the most suitable lens to sharpen and enhance ground contours on bright, cloudy or overcast days. Smoke Green Lenses: Excellent color for all water sports without distorting colors. Ideal in bright sun where glare is a major factor. One of the most universal colors used in sport fishing in any daytime condition. Mirror Lens Anatomy: Wiley X prides itself on launching new technologies while maintaining price levels that are not out of the realm of realism. Our Z-Oxide™ Multi-Coat mirrors are clean, crisp and set a standard of elegance. Smudge and smear proof, these coatings cut light transmission to manageable levels in any bright situation. Try on a whole new level of optical clarity and see the difference. Blue Lunar Mirror: Designed to enhance visual acuity, excellent color for sight fishing. Great everyday lens tint with Blue Mirror Coating over Neutral Slate Lens. Blue Lunar Mirror increases the visual contrast of regular Neutral Slate Lenses offering heightened detail in both bright sunlight and lower light conditions. Emerald Green Mirror: The darkest color in the Wiley X line. Designed for bright light conditions. Excellent for water sports, beaches, and offshore fishing. Great everyday lens tint that is soft on the eyes. Increases detail of objects where polarization is needed most. Silver Steel Mirror: Second darkest lens in the Wiley X line. Designed for bright light conditions. Provides maximum glare reduction without distorting colors. Ideal in bright sun where glare is a major factor. Excellent tint for beaches, fishing, general purpose and water sports applications. 8 Layers to Clarity 8 Layers: 1. SLICK: Clear optical coating is a super hydrophilic mixture that repels water, salt water, and ice from the lens, preventing spotting from occurring on the surface. This advanced coating maintains the life of the lens. Now smudges and stains are easily removed with soft micro fiber case that is enclosed with all Wiley X frames. 2. VIOLET 4TM A/R (ANTI-REFLECTIVE) COATING: Adds another optical filter to every lens to eliminate back-lit glare which is a major cause of eye fatigue and strain. By controlling the amount of light that reaches the eye, we are able to eliminate uncomfortable and distracting glare, providing maximum Ultra Violet protection. 3. T-SHELL: Hard coat adds an extra layer of anti-scratch coating to each lens for added protection and longer life. This flexible coating keeps the lenses from cracking or crazing, maintaining clear vision. 4. SELENITE POLYCARBONATE LENSES: Provides shatterproof reliability. Each lens is die-cut from larger lens blanks to eliminate distortion and provide optical clarity at all angles. These lenses are 10 times more impact resistant than glass or resin lenses and easily exceed global impact standards. Enclosed with all Wiley X frames. 5. Filter 8TM Polarized Film: Provides 100% Ultra Violet protection of 99.9% Polarization for unequaled clarity and contrast, granting perfect visual acuity. Our proprietary film, working in conjunction with our high tech coatings, controls the luminous transmission of the suns rays allowing the perfect amount of light to reach the eye\'s pupils. 6. Continuing with this philosophy we are proud to launch our new line of modular sunglasses and goggles that are not only fashionable but also functional. Our new Magna-Seal™ and Seal-Tek™ technologies take our No Tears™ philosophy to a whole new level. Patented removable gaskets allow the user to completely seal their eyes while riding. Polarized Active Sport Series: We spent the last two years developing one of the most sophisticated Polarized lines, for both Casual and Active customers alike. We've taken basic polarized lens technology to a whole new level. By combining our new Filter 8™ Polarized film with Violet 4™ Anti-Reflective and Slick™ Hydophilic coatings, we have maximized visual performance. Our new Seal-Tek™ technology allows the user to seal his / hers eye's while fishing, boating, or doing anything active. This "Clear Eye Housing" allows the user to perform at their best and not be distracted by reflections or the environment. Remove the seal and you have a great pair of shades in any casual setting. We've meshed our virtually unbreakable TR-90, contoured sport frames, with a soothing, 8 Layer, impact resistant, polarized lens. This glare absorption series was customized specially for the sports enthusiast that likes to go hard. Select models offer neoprene nose pads and V-Wave™ temple tips that are positioned to keep the frames secure and comfortable over long periods of time. Attach the included sunglass strap through T-Peg™ docking and wear the product loose or tight depending on your activity.
