Parade begins at the corner of Kamehameha Hwy and Haiku Road (Windward Mall) and ends at Castle High School on Kaneohe Bay Road. This is the largest community parade in Hawaii with participants from around the state.

GENERAL RULES for the 2008 Kaneohe Christmas Parade


Introduction
Thank you for participating in the largets community parade in the State of Hawaii which began in 1963. The Annual Kaneohe Christmas Parade is successful due to all the participants, volunteers, Kaneohe Christmas Parade committee, the City & County of Honoloulu and the State of Hawaii staff. The parade route is the same as previous years, starting at Windward Mall, Haiku Road and Kamehameha Hwy, through Kaneohe town to Kaneohe Bay Drive, ending at Castle high School. VIPS - (which are at the begining of the parade)

Reviewing Stands
Main Reviewing Stand: American Savings Bank at Kahuhipa Street. Please stop for only 30 seconds and do a short presentation for the judges and the VIP's of the parade! Do not stop at any other reviewing stands.

Registration
  • Sign in and pick up your number at 8:00 AM in front of Times Coffee Shop at Kaneohe Bay Shopping Center. Please send only ONE representative to sign in! Make note of what phase you are in and what unit you follow.
  • Marching units must be at Kaneohe Bay Shopping Center.
  • Parade vehicles and horses must be at Windward Mall parking lot.
  • For SAFETY REASONS, no marching units are allowed in the Windward Mall parking lot.

    Placing your Entry number
    On the right side of the very 1st person marching, 1st vehicle, 1st float, 1st trolley, etc.

    End of the Parade
    When you reach Castle high School do not clog up the area. Move into the school before you disperse. You may then have your participants go to the refreshment area sponsored by McDonalds Windward City, Kaneohe Bakery, Long's, Times, Safeway, Foodland and Star Market.

    Clean up your area
    Repesentatives and Unit leaders: Please be responsible for clean up in your assembly area. Equestrian units, please have one of your ohana members pick up your poops when you leave.

    INFORMATION BY UNIT TYPES
    All units should be in the stagin area by 8:00 AM. Phase 1 units ready to roll by 8:40 AM
  • On Kamehameha Highway, at the start, go right down the middle of the highway. When you pass the Fire Station, you will veer right and stay on the right side of the highway unitl you get to St. Mark's Lutheran Church. You then veer left and get on the other side of the highway. Turn Left on Kaneohe Bay Drive. The Parade ends at Castle High School.
  • Along the route, stay at least 5 feet away from spectators, especially when performing.
  • While going down the parade route, lease at least 2 car lengths between your unit and the unit in front of you.
  • All judging will be at the American Savings Bank. You have 30 seconds to perform for the judges. We are not timing you, however, do make it short as this parade needs to move on. This is a 2 hour parade.
  • All marching units will be in the Kaneohe Bay Shopping Center.
  • Floats are lined up on Haiku Road

    Staging Areas by Unit Types
  • Bands - Kaneohe Bay Shopping Center
  • Equestrian Units - Windward Mall Parking Lot near Kamehameha Highway.
  • Floats - Haiku Road by Windward Mall
  • All Floats are to kine up on Haiku Road by 7:30 AM, starting at the Hailu Road entrance of Windward Mall.
  • Marching Adults and/or Youths - Kaneohe Bay Shopping Center.
  • Vehicle Entries - Windward Mall
  • Vehicle entries are to report to Windward Mall Parking Lot between Macy's store and Sear's no later than 8:00 AM. All vehicles will be placed according to their entry number.
  • VIPS - Windward Mall near Haiku Road
  • Thank you to the Corvette Club of Hawaii for their convertibles. Be sure shoes are taken off, and no sharp objects are in the pants or dress so ther will be no damage to the cars.
  • Others - The Bus and all others are to see the Chairperson or Captains.

    Meetings are held on the last Wednesday of each month, and more frequently in the months preceding the parade. Please consider helping out with this years parade. Contact us at Art Machado The Kaneohe Christmas Parade is a huge undertaking and we are looking for community members to help out. Remember, there is only ONE SANTA for the parade. His elves are the only ones who can give out candies to the children. No Participants of the Parade are allowed to give out candies.
